15-Language Release to Beat Baahubali!

As the Baahubali storm has almost passed, the attention of Indian film fraternity has now shifted towards the next big film, ‘2.0’.

Touted to be a sequel to Shankar-Rajinikanth’s ‘Robot’, ‘2.0’ is being made on around Rs 450 crore budget. After witnessing the herculean performance of Baahubali 2 in India and Aamir Khan’s ‘Dangal’ in China, Shankar seems to have etched a plan to topple both these films with a single stroke.

As per latest reports, ‘2.0’ is being dubbed in as many as 15 languages. Initially, the film was planned to be released in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and English but given how vast market of Indian films has become in the past two years, makers of 2′.0′ have decided to dub and release their VFX extravaganza in Japanese, Chinese, Korean and other foreign languages too. Rajini enjoys good fan base in Japan and China is a huge market for visual spectacles.

Since dubbing in so many languages would 3 more months than the originally estimated time of completion, the film’s release was pushed from 2017 Diwali to 2018 January. With big names like Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar, Shankar and AR Rahman working for the project, which belongs to the most lucrative genre, we can expect records to tumble if the film manages to earn at least decent talk.
