Speaking at the sixth annual meet of Indian diplomats in Delhi, Chandrababu Naidu reeled off his plans for AP which include, ‘Making AP among the top three States of India by 2022’ and ‘The best State on Happiness Index by 2029’.
Now what in heaven’s name does that mean: making AP the best state on happiness index by 2029? As of now, he is doing everything possible to remove all happiness from the lives of farmers. But what exactly is this happiness index? Is there a metric for happiness as well?
One plausible explanation for this is that Chandrababu Naidu walked into the meeting after watching the movie, ‘The Lunchbox’. The heroine of the movie is trapped in an unhappy marriage and decides to leave her husband and go to Bhutan.
Why Bhutan? Because in Bhutan, prosperity or progress is measured in terms of Gross National Happiness and not Gross Domestic Product. So, you see now where Naidu got his idea from?
