As if the after effects of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh are not enough on Hyderabad, the capital city is now staring right into the face of yet another doom. This is the water crisis. According to government officials, the drought is spreading rigorously across the city and though many apartments and residences are digging second borewell, they are not finding it useful. Now, they have increased maintenance and are getting water through tankers.
This is giving rise to water mafia. Ideally, the mafia bids for lakes and ponds which are outside the city. They will do filtration in a basic level and they are selling it to flats. Due to this demand, even that water supply is reducing and mud is coming. And they are bringing that mud water to the apartments and dumping it. Almost all areas are getting affected such as Manikonda, Kondapur, Miyapur, Kukatpally, Uppal, Ramanthapur, Malkajgiri, Somajiguda, Punjagutta. All this is happening due to over consumption and lack of care on water usage.
The high population along with heat and radiation, lack of rainfall, no rain harvesting is also the reason. Now, the Hyderabadis are feeling the importance of water conservation. During his regime, Chandrababu Naidu brought some awareness but now that realization is much needed for Hyderabad people or else it is going to become very tough.
