One can’t help feeling sorry for Vemuri Radhakrishna, MD of ABN Andhra Jyothi. Every time that one logs onto the website of his newspaper, a photograph pops up with the caption, “Yennallu Ee Sankellu”(How long these shackles?). Apparently, this is the 284th day since his channel has been banned in Telangana and even a recommendation by the Central Ministry has left KCR unmoved.
When the Central government is not bothered about the TDP itself, why will they take the time out to resolve the crisis of Radhakrishna? There is absolutely no doubt that the ban on ABN is an infringement of fundamental rights in the country. How can a channel be banned for expressing views contrary to the interests of the ruling party?
But it is unfortunate to see no prominent national or regional media coming forward to support the cause of ABN! Radhakrishna is as stubborn an individual as KCR. Hence an apology from him is out of the question. So, how will this matter be resolved? Maybe judicial intervention would be a good idea.
