Nepali Beauty To Help Earthquake Victims

Manisha Koirala, the Bollywood beauty of Nepali origin, has stated that she will help the women and girls in the earthquake hit areas in Nepal. The ‘Bombay’ girl has been selected as a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and she vowed to help the pregnant women, girl children and women whose lives have been terribly shattered by the earthquake.

In her statement, Manisha said, “I am truly happy to renew my partnership with UNFPA in my homeland at this crucial time.” The actress further said that the victims need the support of UNFPA more than ever. After she was diagnosed and treated for cancer, Manisha Koirala, turned a social activist and has been striving for the support of cancer stricken women.

It is learnt that around 1,26000 Nepali pregnant women are affected by the earthquake and are in dire need of medical and emotional help. Statistics also revealed that many of more than 2 million women of reproductive age are at the danger of unwanted pregnancies. The actress along with the joint help of UNFPA and Nepal Government, is poised to build health camps for all the affected women.
