In yet another major milestone for the Andhra Pradesh government, the state’s revenue through taxes and other sources has increased by 3,247 crores as compared to that of the first five months of last year. Starting from April to August, the state’s treasury recorded 17,708.26 crore revenue, with a drastic double digit increase of revenue in almost all the sectors.
A majority of the revenue has been collected through VAT from Vizag, Krishna and Eluru divisions. While, the income through liquor sales has been increased in Vizag, Guntur, Krishna and East Godavari districts, the stamps and registrations revenue has been increased in Vizag, Guntur and Krishna districts, showcasing the realty boom in these districts.
The income from the transport department has increased in Krishna and Visakhapatnam, with Vizag alone earning 3,636 crore in these 5 months, followed by Eluru with 3,204 crore. The liquor sales filled up the state’s treasure with Guntur topping the list with 538 crore followed by East Godavari and Visakhapatnam with 535 crore each.
The stamps and registration department witnessed a record revenue in Visakhapatnam with 246 crore, while Guntur and Krishna followed with 212, 208 crore respectively. The transport sector recorded its highest revenue in Krishna with 139 crores, followed by Visakhapatnam with 108 crores.
