Yesteryear actress Shilpa Shetty along with her husband Raj Kundra is launching her own brand of mobile phones under a brand named after their three year old son Viaan. The couple had acquired a Kolkata based non-operational company, then known as Hindusthan Safety Glass, which is now being shaped as an entity to sell different kind of electronics products.
The total acquisition cost of HSGI could not be more than Rs 2 crore. HSGI supplied safety glass to Hind Motors and its fortunes took a beating along with that of the automaker’s, inducted into the board of HSGI in September.
Banking on the celebrity status of Shilpa Shetty and the business expertise of her hubby Raj Kundra, the brand Viaan targets the non-metro towns. Mobiles from the brand will be available at low price is ideal for middle class.
All the electronic products from the Viaan brand- Viaan Mobile, V Tab, V Power, V-TV will be sold in India and exported to other territories like the UAE, CIS countries, Europe and the US. Interim, Viaan mobile phone is likely to be launched on November 25.
