Bad Spoofs: Warning Bells Ringing

Depending on spoofs for fun once in a while is fine. But always hanging around the same spoofs is going to cost Kona Venkat and Gopi Mohan all the fame they have amassed. Today’s release Soukyam is an example of what will happen in the future if these star writers don’t leave spoofs.

Baahubali, Srimanthudu and Temper spoof are used in Soukyam, only to demean those films and insult those creations. While the target of these bad spoofs through such insults is creating fun, they didn’t succeeded today. Not even a single laugh could be seen on anyone’s face in theatre by the time Brahmanandam’s Temper spoof arrived on the screen. That’s an indication, warning bells are ringing.

Needless to say, Sreenu Vaitla’s films have Brahmi and others playing some unique roles with well sounding names like McDowel Murthy, Paris Prasad and Padma Sri. He occasionally used spoof dialogues to invent fun. But starting with Kona Venkat, all other writers are now directly using a hit film’s scene and sequence as a spoof. If badly made, these spoofs are going to show their disastrous effect. Still doubts? Watch Soukyam once.
