A brave heart lost his life in the Pathankot terror strike while battling against terrorists. The body of commando Gursewak Singh, who stepped into married life just a month ago, is yet to be sent to his family for the final rites.
The nation mourns the death of the soldier who was from Garnala village, near Ambala. Gursewak’s father, Sucha Singh, is proud that his son laid down his life for the nation. Gursewak, who cleared IAF examinations just in first attempt due to his intelligence, had joined IAF six years back after his graduation.
The body of the martyr will be cremated with complete state honours and the funeral will be held at his house where he got married in November, said deputy commissioner Ashok Sangwan.
Meanwhile, Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khatter announced financial aid worth 20 lakh to the kin of Gursewak.
Recollecting the last conversation with Gursewak Singh, “I called him on Friday evening and he didnot answer it sending a text message in reply. The message says, he will call and if he didnot call, asked me to go to sleep. And he never called back” said his wife Jaspreet Kaur 26 with tear filled eyes.
