Hyderabad police commissioner, Mahender Reddy, on Thursday, issued a circular ordering ban on drones from January 8 to February 7. The orders came in after the possible terror attack warnings from Intelligence Bureau.

The IB warned that para-gliders, micro-light aircraft and remote controlled drones could be used for possible terror strikes in the twin city. Reportedly, Reddy said that prior permission needs to be obtained before use of drones or para-gliders or micro-light aircrafts.

‘No organisation or individual will be allowed to launch unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), unmanned aerial survey (UAS), etc.

In case of government agencies, they should obtain appropriate clearance from local police and aviation authorities before launching any UAS/UAV for any purpose,’ he said. Anyone who fails to obey the orders will be punishable under section 188 of IPC.
