For the last two decades, Ramoji Film City, which is located on the outskirts of Hyderabad, has been serving not only Tollywood but also the entire film industries in India and abroad. Apart from being the one stop destination for filmmaking, RFC also acts as one of the biggest tourist attractions in the city.
Now, the Telangana government is inching closer to its ambitious mission of setting up a world class film city which is much, much bigger than Ramoji Film City. This has been a much cherished dream of Telangana CM KCR.
Addressing several noted personalities from Tollywood, Bollywood and other film industries at FICCI-IIFA conclave yesterday, Telangana IT Secretary Jayesh Ranjan stated that the government will soon introduce its comprehensive film policy which also includes construction of a mega film city.
Also, 10 acres of land in the city’s prime locality will be allotted to set up a huge gaming arena, animation & multimedia cluster, which will also feature a multimedia signature tower as part of the Digital India, Digital Telangana initiative.
Noted Tollywood producer D Suresh Babu pointed out the importance of equipping the youths with necessary training to overcome the shortage of skilled technicians in the industry. Allu Arvind appealed for support to animation and children’s films.
