Former Minister Mopidevi Venkataramana on Monday resigned to his MLA post protesting the bifurcation of the state as its against the wish of the Seemandhra people. He handed over the resignation letter to the jail officials asking them to forward the same to Speaker Nadendla Manohar. He is currently representing Repalle Aseembly constituency in Guntur district.
CBI has taken Mopidevi into custody on May 2012 in connection with the Vanpic scam and the illegal assets case of Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy. Ever since then, he is lodged in Chanchalguda central prison and bail was denied to him by the court even after a year. During this period, he faced several health issues and was also rushed to the hospital once after he sustained a mild stroke.
The court on Monday extended the remand period of YS Jaganmohan Reddy, Nimmagadda Prasad, Mopidevi Venkatramana, Vijay Sai Reddy and former bureaucrat Brahmananda Reddy till September 6th. All of them weren’t produced in court Today, instead the proceedings were held through video conference from Chanchalguda jail.
