Rio Olympics: Telugu Girl Sindhu shocks World No 2

Telugu sensation PV Sindhu became the second Indian Badminton player to reach an Olympic semifinal after Saina Nehwal achieved in London 2012. PV Sindhu has defeated world number 2 ranker and London Silver Medallist Wang Yihan in quarter finals at Rio Olympics to reach semi finals.This Olympic quarterfinal was a courageous contest between youth and experience. The tenth seeded Indian Sindhu won the thrilling match in straight sets dominating her opponent Yihan, the former no 1 player, in smashes and fitness.

The close score line of 22-20, 21-19 shows just how tight the contest was, with Sindhu keeping her nerve and Yihan committing several errors. The two players continued to fight for every point.Coach Pullela Gopichand is all praises for Sindhu for the efforts she put in to win the match. He is very much confident of Sindhu winning a medal for India.

Sindhu avowed that she is determined to produce a similar effort in the semi-finals and create history by becoming the first Indian shuttler to enter the Olympic final.Sindhu will face world No six Nozomi Okuhara of Japan in the semi final stage.
