With each passing day, the support for Jallikattu followers is growing big. From film stars to politicians to sports persons, the movement against ban on the Tamil Nadu’s cultural sport is gaining all the strength.
The latest to join the legion is none other than world renowned musician and the Mozart of Madras AR Rahman. Rahman, who usually stays away from such controversies, have come forward and decided to stand in support of the culture. Rahman has announced that he would be fasting for a day in the spirit of Tamil Nadu.
“I’m fasting tomorrow to support the spirit of Tamilnadu!(sic),” Rahman shared on his Twitter page.
Actor Vishal has already sit on fast in Jantar Mantar in Delhi against the ban.
Top stars Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth, Vijay, Suriya have already voiced their support for Jallikattu cause and going to join the day-long peaceful protest against the ban on Friday. Nadigar Sangam is backing this silent protest by industry persons tomorrow.
Meanwhile, five-time world chess champion Viswanathan Anand too voiced his support for Jallikattu sport.
“My state rises again. In unison . In peace. Proud to be a #tamizhanda.Genext here are modern yet culturally rooted. #JusticeforJallikattu. #jallikattu is a cultural symbol . Respect it. Im all for animal rights but here that is not the point.tradition & livelihood are,” Viswanath Anand wrote.
