Kamal Haasan, who never minces his words, was at it again. The actor has courted a fresh controversy with his sharp remarks on epic Mahabharata. In a recent interview to a Tamil channel, Kamal made some critical comments on the epic that allegedly belittled the community and hurt the sentiments of the people of the community. Although he didn’t take the name of the epic directly, Kamal referred to Mahabharata and said that ‘a woman is gambled away in the epic’ and pointed that ‘India honours such a book’.

Upset with these remarks of Kamal, the members of the Hindu Makkal Katchi (HMK) have lodged a police complaint against actor Kamal Haasan. The members of the party have submitted the complaint at the Chennai City Police Commissionerate on Wednesday and accused Kamal Haasan of making derogatory remarks against Hindus. They have called Kamal as anti-Hindu and even questioned whether he has any guts to speak against Bible or Quaran.

According to a few media reports, the Akila Hindu Mahasabha has also filed a complaint against Kamal with the Collector in Coimbatore for the same reason.

This is not the first-time Kamal has invited ire of people over religious reasons. Earlier his film “Viswaraoopam” saw several hurdles as a community (Muslims) alleged that the film would show them in the poor light and at one point Kamal had stated that he’d leave the country if such instances continue.
