When it was announced that Pawan would do the remake of Tamil film ‘Veeram’ after Sardaar Gabbar Singh, even ardent fans of the matinee idol expressed their disappointment leave aside the trolling of anti-fans. Now, how would all those feel if we tell that the film brought a total profit of Rs 70 crore, that too even before its release.
There was not much buzz on Katamarayudu until the film’s teaser hit screens. Once it had arrived, buyers flooded with money bags to grab the rights as it was once again proved that the charisma of Pawan was beyond the hit-flop, original-remake etc. equations.
As per trade reprots, the total theatrical rights of Katamarayudu were sold for a whopping Rs 85 Cr. The satellite, audio, digital and dubbing rights fetched another Rs 20 crore. So, overall the film has done Rs 105 crore pre-release business.
As Pawan has not taken any remuneration, the film’s budget including the publicity cost was estimated at a meager Rs 35 crore. Deducting these expenses, the film brought a net profit of Rs 70 crore. Pawan’s share could be anywhere around 40 crore.
Now, what the people who trolled this remake being helmed by not so popular director would say after seeing these unbelievable business equations.
