The news that a class 12 book published and described a best female figure as ’36-24-36′ has rocked the social media and it has become the subject of discussion of various platforms like Facebook and Twitter. After inviting a lot of flak from several educators, parents, journalists and others, the Union Minister for education – Prakash Jawadekar has finally acted upon it and ordered for an investigation.

The disgraceful lines which were included in a private publisher’s book came to light after some people brought up the respective snapshots to social media. It’s being circulated that the text book is being followed and taught in few Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) schools.

But the content was fairly irrelevant and imprecise for 12th class students, according to detractors. Now that issue is growing big, Minister Jawadekar instructed the publisher to immediately stop the printing and selling of those books. The CBSE, regarding this matter, firmly recommends government’s NCERT (National Council of Educational Research and Training) books and however, leaves the final call to schools.

The book, further, teaches: ‘the bones of hips of females are wider and their knees are slightly apart. Due to this shape, females are not able to run properly’ and ‘the ‘V’ shape in case of males is considered the best’.

Such filthy and regressive lessons are not uncommon in both state board and central level books. But, this is one of the desolated cases.
