Remember the viral pictures of mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy’s daughter as a bride on the eve of her wedding? Social media went berserk seeing her covered with golden jewellery from head to toe. Now, a similar embellished bride, daughter of a politician is found in Kerala.
The wedding of Kerala Communist Party of India (CPI) leader Geetha Gopi’s daughter drew wide attention on social media after pictures of the bride adorned in gold went viral. Mrs Gopi is a two-time CPI legislator from Nattika in Thrissur district of Kerala.
The bride’s viral wedding picture became a subject of discussion in political circles also because another CPI leader, Ratnakaran has recently raised the issue of lavish weddings in the state assembly through a calling attention motion and demanded that the government should make a strict law to prevent such ostentatious weddings.
Now, as a leader from their own party found organizing an ostentatious wedding, fearing the party’s image will be dented, CPI leadership has reportedly decided to discuss the issue in next meeting.
On the other hand, Mrs Gopi claimed she had done what any parent would have done for her daughter and defended her act saying the wedding festivity was a very low-key affair.
