A traffic police officer in Bengaluru has won hearts and also a Reward for showing the audacity and quick thinking to stop the convoy of the President to let an ambulance pass.
On Saturday, President Pranab Mukherjee was in Bengaluru on a visit. A traffic police sub-inspector named Nijalingappa was deployed at Trinity Circle to facilitate the movement of the President’s convoy.
Just as he was clearing the way for the convoy to pass, Nijalingappa reportedly spotted an ambulance trying to find its way towards a nearby hospital. He then stopped the President’s convoy and cleared the traffic so that the ambulance could make its way out of the traffic jam.
His deft handling of the situation where he allowed ambulance ahead of the President’ convoy was praised by the City police commissioner. Besides winning a reward from the police department, Njalingappa also won many hearts when this incident came to light, thanks to the tweet made by the police commissioner.
