In a freakishly tragic accident, a woman in Mumbai died after she was crushed by a falling tree. Kanchan Nath, 58, who was working as a host on the government-run Doordarshan channel, was the woman who had this fateful death.
CCTV footage of the tragic incident shows a 25ft-high coconut tree suddenly crashing down on to her as she walks in the middle of the road on Thursday morning. She was pinned down by the weight of the tree and suffered fatal internal injuries. Onlookers rushed her to hospital where she died this morning because of the catastrophic brain injuries she sustained.
Mrs Rath’s bereaved husband blamed the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for the tragic death of his wife. He said officials had been informed about the weakened and wavering tree that could fall anytime, but they had allegedly refused to cut it.
The local corporator has reportedly reasoned that they didn’t cut the tree as the officials found it to be in good condition after an inspection.
