Telangana government has approved some major changes formulated by the Directorate of School Education in the academic calendar.According to the new academic calendar for 2017-18, schools will re-open on June 1 instead of June 12 next year. April 12, 2018 is the last working day for all schools for the academic year, and summer vacations will be from April 13, 2018 to May 31, 2018.
The change in the academic calendar will facilitate school students to participate in the State Formation celebrations on 2nd June. Earlier, schools used to re-open on 12th June, so not much activity used to happen in schools on the State Formation Day.
As per the new time frames formulated by the Board, schools will have to complete syllabus for Classes I to IX students by February 28. March and April months are reserved for revision, remedial teaching and preparation for Summative Assessment (SA) 2 examinations, which will be held from April 2 to April 9 next year.
The syllabus for Class X should be completed by 31st January, and revision and pre-final examinations should be held before 28th February.Coming to the holidays, the government has allotted 15 days for Dasara festival, five days for Christmas festival (for missionary schools) and five days for Sankranti festival
