Sharwanand’s ‘Mahanubhavudu’, the third Telugu film that aims to take advantage of Dasara holidays is all set to hit screens this Friday. Now, fans of Mahesh Babbu and NTR are curious as well as tensed to know which of the two films of their favorite films will be replaced by the promising Sharwa-starrer.
Released on Sep 20, NTR’s ‘Jai Lava Kusa’ minted money like anything in the first 4-day weekend. The film however witnessed significant drop in collections from Monday, according trade reports. And, substantial number of theatres replaced the film with Mahesh’s SPYder, which released yesterday amidst sky-high expectations. This high-budget action thriller however appalled everyone with the opening day numbers. Mahesh’s past duds proved that his films crumble on the second day itself if they receive poor word of mouth.
Coming to ‘Mahanubhavudu’, the promos promised delightful comedy, something both JLK and SPYder lack. JLK has decent emotional and action quotient but the fun factor that audience seek from festival releases was missing.
Despite these two biggies, the small film was earlier planned to be released in good number of theatres. And, now as neither of the films seem to be going strong at box office, exhibitors are reportedly planning to replace their films with Mahanubhavudu. As JLK has gone past one week of run, and also taking the drops into consideration, it may have to sacrifice some theatres. SPYder, despite being just 2-day-old, may have to lose good number of theatres owing to the shocking reception from audience. If Mahanubhavudu manages to get better talk than these two films and also draws crowds, then both the biggies will have to make way for the Sharwa-starrer at box office.
