Has top actress Rakul Preet Singh hit a rough patch? Well, the actress has no new films in her kitty. Is it a conscious decision to wait for right projects or a dry period enforced by back to back debacles?
Post the success of ‘Venkatadri Express’, Rakul never looked back. Within a span of four years, she paired up with top stars such as Mahesh Babu, Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Allu Arjun, Ravi Teja and others, and emerged as the top actress. 2017 however has proved to be an unlucky year for her. The year started with the disastrous performance of ‘Winner’. Although she salvaged it with ‘Ra Randoi Veduka Chooddam’, ‘Jaya Janaki Nayaka’ came as a fruitless project.
She had pinned very high hopes on SPYder but the Mahesh-starrer turned out to be one of the biggest disasters. Moreover, Rakul’s characterization and her performance in the film received severe criticism. Many pointed out that she was allegedly not choosing roles wisely and giving priority to only top directors, top heroes and remuneration.
As of now, Rakul is awaiting the release of Karthi’s ‘Khakee’. She is reported to be in consideration for a few biggies but officially, she doesn’t have a single South film in her kitty. Rakul, who has been the busiest actress for the past two years, is now reportedly waiting for chances. She is hopeful that Khakee will once again make her busy, at least in Tamil film industry.
On a side note, Rakul has a Bollywood film in shooting phase, ‘Aiyaary’ opposite Siddarth Malhotra.
