Ex Googlite, Telangana’s Own Anudeep Tops Civils 2017

The Union Public Service Commission has announced the results on Friday (Apr 27, 2018) for the year 2017. Telangana’s own Durishetty Anudeep has emerged as the UPSC topper for 2017. A native of Chittapur village near Metpally town in Jagityal district, Anudeep is an IRS (Indian Revenue Services) officer and is presently posted as Assistant Commissioner, Central, GST, in Hyderabad. Anudeep made it to the top in his fourth attempt at Civils. Before getting selected as an IRS officer in October 2014, Anudeep had worked with tech giant Google as a ‘Product Quality Analyst’.

27-year-old Durishetty Anudeep is still unmarried. An engineer from BITS Pilani in Rajashtan in 2011, Anudeep had his schooling from Suryodaya High School in Metpally. His father Manohar Durishetty is an Assistant Engineer with the TS Transco at Mallapur in Jagityal district and is still in service, while his mother Durishetty Jyothi is a home-maker. Although he is an engineer, Anudeep took Anthropology as his optional subject in Mains.

Ms Anu Kumari has secured second rank in UPSC 2017. She is a science graduate from Delhi University who later picked up a MBA degree from IMT, Nagpur. Haryana’s Sachin Gupta got third rank. Meanwhile, a physically challenged person, Ms Saumya Sharma, is among the top 10 candidates. Saumya got ninth rank. Out of top 25 All India Ranks, 8 candidates are woman. Considered as one of the most toughest recruitment exams, more than 9.5 Lakh appeared for the Civils 2017.
