Chandrababu to intensify stir in Delhi for 50% VVPAT counting

AP Chief Minister and Telugu Desam national president N. Chandrababu Naidu said he, along with the support of various other political parties, would stage a protest in New Delhi demanding that 50 per cent of the Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) should be counted. He claimed that some non-voluntary organisations (NGOs) were also coming forward for the cause. He said that the NGOs would conduct awareness programmes on VVPATs. ”We will write letters to the VVPAT experts in the country soon,” he said.

In the teleconference held with the party leaders and functionaries, Chandrababu said that there was a need to put the EC on track, when it was taking decisions unilaterally. He added that the political leaders at the national-level were surprised to know that a few people cast their votes at 4.30 am.

Chandrababu told his cadre that their fight was against the poll panel but not against the poll officials posted to the state. All the officials, except those executing the poling related works, will have to work under the government. He lauded the government officials for the support they extended to him during the last five years. He alleged that some people with vested interests were trying to divide them in the name of caste and religion.

On the irregularities in TS Inter results, Chandrababu said that Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and TRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao was being trolled for it on the social media for the goof-up.

Commenting on review meetings, he said that from May 1, review meetings will be held with the area coordinators in each constituency. Revolving fund would be arranged for the party cadre, Chandrababu informed and added that in a democracy, the cadre is the only reliable thing for any political party. Officials are also necessary. Both the systems are essential, he said.
