In what can be a remarkable and revolutionary move, Andhra Pradesh state government has decided to give weekly offs to state police right from constables to inspectors. DGP Goutam Sawang in a statement stated that the weekly offs will be implemented from this week and it has come into force from June 19, 2019 (Wednesday). It is learnt that AP police bosses have identified 19 types of procedures to adopt the weekly offs based on the availability of police staff in department and as per their work nature. Goutam Sawang said the respective department heads can choose the one of the 19 procedures that is apt for their department without affecting the work.
DGP has met the Police Officers Association at Mangalagiri. Goutam said that the weekly offs information would be available in advance and the respective staff can avail it accordingly. He also said that a new software is being brought in order to implement this fairly.
DGP Goutam Sawang gave credit to CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. DGP said it is Chief Minister’s decision to give weekly offs to police personnel keeping their health as priority. The latest decision is expected to benefit over 70,000 police personnel and their families. The families of police personnel are praising AP government’s decision.
