A few months back, late CM YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s statue on the main road near to police control room in Vijayawada was removed by the previous TDP government. Then YSRCP leader Vangaveeti Radha staged a huge protest and it was in headlines for the next couple of days. The issue got settled but the statue was not restored.
After the death of YSR, ex-MP Lagadapati Rajagopal set up this statue in the 2011. Post the bifurcation, Vijayawada becoming the capital, the traffic increased multi-fold in the region. Also YSR’s statue being in the main junction became a hurdle for commuters. During the Krishna Pushkaralu, the traffic issue turned severe and the authorities removed YSR’s statue and made a four-way junction. By planting saplings and setting up new sculptures, this road became a hurdle free for daily commuters.
The ruling YSRCP government has decided to restore YSR’s statue at this very junction and works have already begun. The sculptures and plants were removed overnight and the road is now going to get congested again. This time, YSR’s statue is expected to be bigger than the previous one which means it will occupy a lot of space eventually the commuters will be suffering. We hear that YSRCP is planning a big event for the statue inauguration and CM Jagan might also attend.
This is yet another example of the revengeful attitude of YSRCP government. Instead of doing things what they have promised, they are focused on the works done by TDP government and doing the anti of it. Not at all needed!
