The unfortunate incident on Sunday afternoon at Ameerpet metro station took Mounika’s life after a portion of slab peeled off the roof and fell on her head post heavy rains. The 26-year-old Mounika worked for TCS MNC. Her husband recalled what exactly happened that unlucky day.
Mounika and her cousin Likitha, who initially decided to take a bus to Ameerpet, it is her husband Harikanth Reddy who suggested them to take a metro for a quick commute. After reaching Ameerpet, Mounika was hit with this tragic accident when she was climbing down from the station.
She was declared dead after rushing to a nearby hospital. Her husband said that he dropped his wife and cousin at the metro station just an hour before he heard his wife’s death news. Likitha, her cousin, called Hraikanth asking him to come to the hospital explaining the whole accident. But, it is heart-wrenching to know that Harikanth was told in the hospital that Mounika is no more.
It is learned that Mounika and Likitha came to Ameerpet to scout for a hotel for the latter as she completed her Btech course and decided to join a coaching center in SR Nagar. Now, after the horrific mishap, Mounika’s other cousin D.Raju demanded action against the Metro authorities.
Whenever the city hits with heavy rains, many two-wheelers and pedestrians stop and take shelter under flyovers and metro stations. With such incidents happening, it is a lie risk to anyone who’s travelling on roads. The locals also demanded to take measures in the strengthening of structures along the metro line.
