#DelhiBurning: Telugu Celebs stay mum!

India’s capital New Delhi is witnessing the worst of its days now as protests against the CAA have turned violent. It is heartening to say that the communal violence incited by mobs in northeast Delhi has already taken the lives of 34 people, since February 23. In a nutshell, some Hindu groups are trying to attack (also killing) protesting Muslims, and some Muslim leaders attacked Hindu areas with guns and boulders.

At a time when the country’s capital is burning that way, it is quite appalling to see that some responsible politicians and also film actors from Telugu industry stay mum about it. Neither Pawan Kalyan came out and made any comment on it, nor TDP MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna did it. He might have left politics, but Megastar Chiranjeevi, being a responsible star, surely needs to address such violence, which would also augment his stature.

At the same time, young superstars like Prabhas, Mahesh, Ram Charan, Jr NTR and Allu Arjun might put a word or two on Delhi violence in order to make sure that they are looking at what is happening in the country rather than the box office collections of their own movies. Most of the times, when whole of Bollywood responds on these types of incidents, Telugu stars stay silent, because they are worried that their words might spread hatred and affect the box office prospects of their next films.

On the contrary, Tamil star heroes like Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan have made their voice along with people. While Rajini slammed the lawbreakers, Kamal appreciated Rajini’s comments. We must take note that Rajini and Kamal have entered full time politics and are constantly reacting on issues with national interest. Rajini is ahead than Kamal by extending support to the controversial CAA.

Cut to Delhi, security forces were deployed to take stock of the situation and there were no fresh incidents since Wednesday night as governments claimed that situation is getting under control.
