Jagan yet to confirm RS seat to Ambani friend?

When Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani flew down all the way from Mumbai to Vijayawada to meet YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday, there were several speculations over the purpose of his visit.

Ambani was accompanied by his son Anant Ambani and Rajya Sabha member Parimal Nathwani during his two-hour talks with Jagan.

Finally, it was leaked to media that Ambani had come to Jagan to request a Rajya Sabha seat to his friend Nathwani from Andhra Pradesh.

Apparently, Nathwani, who has been part of the top management of Reliance, got the recommendation from the Bharatiya Janata Party top brass.

Though he is not a BJP member, being from Gujarat, he has been closer to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah.

There was a talk that Ambani came all the way from Mumbai only after getting an assurance from Jagan about the RS nomination to Nathwani.

However, now it is learnt Jagan has not given any firm assurance to Ambani in this regard immediately. He reportedly told them politely that he wanted some time to take a decision.

This was confirmed by none other than Nathwani himself, while talking to media persons in the Parliament lobbies.

He said he, along with Ambani, had requested a Rajya Sabha seat out of the four seats YSRC would get and Jagan sounded positive.

“However, Jagan sought three days’ time to take a decision,” he said, indicating that the YSRC chief had not given any firm commitment.

He also indicated that if Jagan was not in a position to give him the RS seat under any circumstances, he would try from Bihar and Odisha also.

But since Ambani himself had made the request, Jagan might not say no. But by seeking some time to take a decision, the YSRC chief clearly indicated that he cannot be taken for granted just like that.

That is Jagan!
