Sitting pretty at home, indulging in making Italian dishes, sipping wine and doing workouts, spicy siren Samantha is also busy reading some scripts. We hear that she got pretty excited by one period drama, which she might even produce as well very soon.
Like the lady herself revealed a while back, she hasn’t got great women-centric or any other exciting scripts her way though she has pulled off a solo movie like Oh Baby effectively at the box office. But then, veteran director Singeetham Srinivasa Rao is said to have offered her to play the role of Nagarathnamma on the silver screen.
For the uninformed, Bangalore Nagaratnam or Nagarathnamma was the last practitioner of Devadasi tradition, where they dedicate their life to Courts of King. Born in 1878 in Mysore, she is a cultural activist, scholar, dancer and activist too.
She rose to fame in Telugu region after publishing the book Radhika Santvanam, known for its eroticism, and social reformers like Kandukuri Veeresalingam got it banned. She fought against everyone to lift the ban, but Veeresalingam’s lobby is quite strong that they never made it happen. But after independence, Madras CM Tanguturi Prakasam not only lifted the ban but called it a marvel in Telugu literature.
Reports are coming that Samantha has read the rough draft and felt excited, and the final discussions might happen after the lockdown gets lifted. But then, the actress is said to be desired to produce the film on her own.
