After the YSRCP secured a landslide victory in the 2019 assembly polls, Jagan Mohan Reddy said that he won’t encourage any defections from the opposition unless they want to resign their post. TDP has only 23 MLAs but there are many powerful leaders who lost due to Jagan’s storm and now they all are going YCP’s way.
Just before the local body elections, many TDP leaders joined YSRCP and the strong forts of TDP, Krishna and Guntur were breached by the ruling party. Most of them belong to Chandra Babu Naidu’s community and they are in dilemma about their future in TDP. This created tension in TDP circles and as a result, their leaders are going YCP’s way one after another.
A TDP MLC from Anantapur, Shatakamani and his daughter Yamini Bala is in the list along with MLA Karanam Balaram who resisted Jagan’s wave successfully in Chirala. The most worrying factor is many TDP leaders who are with Naidu from the beginning are also interested in joining the ruling party. Kalva Srnivasulu who is said to be the close acquaintance of Naidu and Shobha Hymavathi from Vijayanagaram district are also in this list.
So, it is quite clear than Jagan is determined to demolish the Telugu Desham party in the state and CBN has no clue about what to do to stop these defections.
