Apart from the COVID-19 crisis, there is another hot topic in Andhra Pradesh and it is none other than the rumoured arrest of the TV5 Murthy. It is yet to be known whether Murthy will be taken into custody or not. Over many months, there has been an allegation that Murthy has been working for the TDP unofficially, and hence he is reporting news against the YSRCP government.
Now, the information is that the AP government is willing to book him under three different cases. 1) The way he supported doctor Sudhakar’s statements without any proof which are against the AP government. 2) For telecasting an old video and morphing it as ‘Sachivalayam Vudhyogula chindulu’ and 3) For making baseless allegations on the Jagan’s government that they are manipulating the COVID-19 positive cases’ numbers.
If the Andhra Pradesh government is really willing to book him under these cases, first of all, they have to prove that each and every telecast that is on record is biased and fake. So, there is a need for definite evidence to rule Murthy’s allegations out. Arresting Murthy without doing any of the above will make the government look bad and will make TV 5 Murthy a hero.
The government which faced many hurdles like these from a certain ‘biased media’ when they are in opposition should think of a better way to take down people like Murthy other than arrests. They need to hit roots but not a tiny leaf just because the leaf is easy to pluck. How would Jagan react if Chandrababu had done the same with Sakshi when the TDP is in Power?
So, YSRCP government should be careful in dealing the persons like Murthy and they have to show their intelligence instead of muscle at this time.
