TDP leader G.V. Anjaneyulu alleged that YCP MLA Brahmanaidu’s supporters were looting the Gundlakamma vagu by mining sand illegally. He said that the MLA was getting Rs 10 lakh share from the illegal sand mining on a daily basis.
Illegal sand mining has always been a major source of income to the legislators of the ruling party. Even the TDP MLAs and local leaders faced charges of illegal sand mining during the TDP regime in the state. There was buzz that the TDP was voted out of power due to the rampant sand mining which pushed the public into several hardships.
However, even after the YCP getting voted to power there was no let up in the situation. Initially, supply of sand was stalled on the grounds that a new sand policy would be introduced following which construction works came to a halt for six months and then came floods due to which the ministers said that all the ramps were submerged and that sand could not be excavated. This also led to shortage in supply of sand and later, the hiccups of switching to online booking too disrupted the supply of sand.
With the construction workers being rendered jobless for months, not just the opposition parties but the leaders of the ruling party too criticised the government.
Anjaneyulu also alleged that the MLA’s land was acquired by the YCP government for distribution as house sites to the poor for Rs 18 lakh while the market value of the land was nothing more than Rs 4 lakh.
He said that the people in Vinukonda were ready to teach a befitting lesson to the YCP MLA.
