The BC community has always been a strong pillar of support to the Telugu Desam Party, right from the very beginning. While Jagan managed to get many votes from the BC community in the 2019 elections, the YSRCP has not been able to remain a favorite for the BC community after the elections.
Jagan’s government has been heavily criticised for not giving enough funds to the BC community, to help those who really are in dire need. Almost in an attempt to win these people back, the government has now announced 56 BC corporations, filled with directors and chairmen.
For the total number of 139 castes in the BC community, the YSRPC has formed 56 corporations, which are under 12 Directors and a chairman. The government also made sure that 50% of the posts have been given to women, to make sure that there’s no discrimination.
Deputy Chief Minister Dharmana Krishna Das, Ministers Botsa Satyanarayana, Anil Kumar Yadav and others announced these posts, earlier today, with the utmost pomp and pride. However, fact remains that the YSRCP has already taken a huge hit with the BC community, after repeated ignorance of the YSRCP towards the community for the last year and a half.
Oppositions are rife with statements saying that the YSRCP has created the BC corporations to create a vote bank for themselves, and not because they really care about the community. It is now to be seen if the YSRCP’s plan will yield any benefits for them or not.
