After the national capital Delhi reported the highest single-day infections since the pandemic hit the country, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced a weekend curfew to tackle the pandemic crisis.
The Chief Minister addressed the press briefing on Thursday over the weekend curfew. The night curfew will not impact the essential services and weddings in Delhi, he said.
The night curfew was announced to break the transmission chain. There is no truth in the reports on the scarcity of beds in the hospitals. To see that vaccines are made available in required numbers, required measures are being taken. Mr. Kejriwal told the reporters.
To counter the overcrowding outdoors, the Government issued directives to malls, spas, auditoriums, and gyms in Delhi to shut until further notice. However, theaters were permitted to operate with 30 percent occupancy on weekdays.
The weekend curfew will be imposed in Delhi from Friday 10 pm till Monday 6 am. In-house dining in restaurants and other eateries will not be permitted. However, home deliveries will be allowed.
“The schools and colleges in the city will be shut until further notice with the COVID-19 cases in the national capital going up at an alarming level,” the Chief Minister said.
Arvind Kejriwal has also directed the concerned officials to take strict action against the violators of the Covid-19 restrictions.
