Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) chief, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal went into isolation after his wife Sunita Kejriwal had tested positive for the novel Coronavirus on Tuesday.
Talking to the media, AAP leader Durgesh Pathak said that the Chief Minister went into self-isolation as a precautionary measure.
The national capital Delhi became one of the worst-affected regions in the country. For the party few days, Delhi has been reporting more than 20,000 fresh Coronavirus infections.
To bring the situation under control, the government imposed a six-day lockdown which came into effect from Monday night. Barring the essential services, malls, and other places were shut.
The Chief Minister called lockdown as a measure to reduce the transmission rate and said, the lockdown will give time to improve the infrastructure of the medical facilities which is in a critical situation.
“The lockdown in Delhi has started today. This decision has been taken in view of your health and safety. Kindly cooperate with the government and stay home to keep safe from the infection,” Kejriwal tweeted before imposing a six-day lockdown.
