Popular Malayalam director and advertisement film maker VA Shrikumar Menon has been arrested by the police in a cheating case.
The directed was held based on a complaint filed by Rajendran Pillai, who belongs to the Sreevalsam business group. As per reports, Mr Pillai filed a complaint against the director over the money transactions that took place between 2006 to present.
As per the complaint, Shrikumar had received Rs 7 crore from Rajendran Pillai for a film, which never took off. Since there was no development related to the film. With this, Pillai approached the cops and lodged a complaint.
Shrikumar was arrested on Thursday and was produced in Court today (May 7). He is charged under sections 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the Indian Penal Code.
