Yes Prime Minister has married his long-time girl friend in a low-key wedding ceremony. Due to Covid restrictions, only a small number of invitees were allowed and the marriage happened on Saturday afternoon. Well. The prime minister in question is Boris Johnson and he has married his long-time fiancée Carrie Symonds.
British tabloids like The Sun have prominently published this news and said the wedding was secretly performed. The wedding was held at 1.30 pm in London’s West Minister’s abbey. Symonds arrived a half-hour late to the ceremony. Interestingly, the PM and his girlfriend were living together for the last several years and have a child born out of their relation. The wedding has now formalized the relation. The invites were sent barely an hour before the actual ceremony.
This is the third marriage for the prime minister. His two earlier marriages ended in divorce. He was in the past suspended from the conservative party for having an extra-marital affair with a woman. This is only the second time in British history that a prime minister had married while in office. The last occasion was in 1822. Lord Liverpool had married while in office.
