Former minister Konda Surekha is likely to be the Congress party candidate for the Huzurabad by-election. The name of Surekha was almost finalized by Congress supremacy and an official announcement regarding the same would be made soon.
It is a known fact that the entire state is looking towards Huzurabad after Etela Rajender resigned to his post and joined BJP. The ruling TRS party has already announced its candidate, and the BJP is also in its plans with Etela’s family.
Amid tough battle at the bypolls, the Congress party is trying to make a strong impact by promoting Surekha as BC candidate. The 55-year-old Surekha, a four-time MLA, is from Padmashali social class while her husband Konda Murali belongs to the Munnur Kapu. It is expected that people from these two castes will vote for Congress.
Along with Surekha, the party has considered the names of K Satyanarayana, Krishna Reddy and P. Rajesh. However, it seems that the party has finally finalized Surekha’s name.
After the formation of Telangana, the Congress party has failed to win most of the seats in the state. It also lost sitting seats in the by-elections. It remains to be seen can they change their fate with Huzurabad by-polls.
