Remember Kanhaiya Kumar? He was the student leader of the Jawaharlal Nehru University and raised slogans of Azadi on Kashmiri terrorist Afzal Guru’s death anniversary. Till now a national council member, he is all set to join the Congress Party. Joining along with him is the sitting MLA from Gujarat’s Vadgam Jignesh Mewani. They would join the party on the birth anniversary of martyr Bhagat Singh on September 28.
Kanhaiya has been a rabble rouser. A powerful orator, he has contested for an MP seat from his native state of Bihar and lost badly. Since then, he has developed deep differences with his party – the CPI and is currently inactive. He is in touch with Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi. He would be given a key post in the Congress Party. He is likely to take up responsibility of handling Bihar state.
Similarly, firebrand Dalit leader Jignesh Mewani of the Rashtriya Dalit Adhikar Manch too will join the Congress Party. Mewani, who contested and won as an independent MLA from Vadgam in Gujarat, was supported by the Congress Party in 2017 elections. He is likely to be appointed as the working president of the party. Gujarat Congress does not have a young leader after the death of Rajiv Satav.
The Congress is planning to utilise the services of Kanhaiya Kumar in the Eastern part of the UP in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh elections. He is a powerful public speaker and handles debates efficiently on public forums.
