The response of a political leader to bribery in Madhya Pradesh has become a topic of discussion. A BSP MLA has hit the news after a video of her telling employees how much corruption is acceptable went viral.
Rambai Singh, MLA from Pathariya in Damoh district, was heard comparing bribe to salt in four, saying, “It is alright to indulge in corruption equal to the amount of salt added into wheat flour, but you should not steal the entire plate from someone.”
As per reports, Satouwa villagers have complained to the MLA that district officials are asking for bribes to allocate houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna. She called a meeting in the village and summoned the victims and the bribe-takers. She asked the villagers how much bribe they had paid. Three people got up and said they paid Rs 9000, Rs 5000, and Rs 6000.
After hearing the grievance of the villagers, Rambai turned to the officers and said, “I know this is a chaotic state with a confused ruler, but you should look at the condition. These labourers go out to work. How much does their house cost? That much would be the cost of constructing your bathrooms.”
In the past, MLA Rambai had organized similar meetings and handed back money from officials who had taken bribes.
