Film industry remains closed on Monday

All the bigwigs of Southern film industries have decided to stall the shootings of all the movies on Monday. The members of the industries will carry on protests on that day opposing the service tax levied on films by Central Government. The new taxation policy levied 12.36 percent tax on every one involved in movie making and trade.

The film industries staged similar protest on February 23,2012 but Government did not budge and brought the service tax policy in to effect from July 1, 2012. Several movies and TV shows reportedly stopped midway due to tough finances as a result of this new policy.
