Kannada hero Yash and Prasanth Neel’s high-budget action drama ‘KGF Chapter 2’ is setting the box office on fire. After minting over 150 crores on the first day itself, the film minted over 500 crores by the end of its first weekend.
Since the film was released on Thursday, it got an additional day. Prasanth Neel’s presentation and Yash’s charisma made up for a wafer-thin story. The film impressed many irrespective of the average reviews it received.
Many said that there is nothing in the film except elevation scenes. But they had zero effect as it set the cash registers ringing in the first weekend in both North and South India. ‘Beast’ ended up as a failure and the ‘Jersey’ Hindi version got postponed. With ‘RRR’ slowing down completely, the second chapter of ‘KGF’ did phenomenally.
But the collections took a huge dip on Monday. Trade pundits claim that the film had a drastic drop which is surprising to many. Most of the family audience arrive from Monday but the film is an action drama filled with violence.
This is reportedly stopping the families from entering the theatres. The dip in collections is mainly visible in South India including the Telugu states. News is that the collections still going strong in the North India which is giving some respite to the makers. Let us see if they pick up in the coming days or not.
