Post the global fame of SS Rajamouli’s directorial RRR, it has been reported that the Pan-India film might get nominated for the prestigious Oscars. A few international media outlets said that the multi-starrer might get nominated in a few categories. Fans also hoped that RRR might be the best game for India given the breathtaking visuals and action sequences.
Adding a twist to the tale, a Gujarati film took RRR’s place in the official entry for Oscars from India. Pan Nalin’s directorial “Chhello Show†(The Last Film Show) was picked from India for the Oscars. The Gujarat film entered the nominations out of nowhere and stunned everyone.
RRR fans were not impressed with this and they allege that the Pan-India film might have been rejected as it was a South Indian film. They ask how can a film like RRR miss the nominations. It was also expected that The Kashmir Files might get nominated. But both films missed the chance.
RRR carried high expectations that it might bag the prestigious award as the visuals and emotions in the film are no less than any Hollywood film. Even the Bollywood film ‘The Kashmir Files’ which was likely to get nominated for the prestigious award missed the chance and the Gujarati film was picked.
The Film Federation of India announced “Chhello Show” (The Last Film Show) as the official entry from India for the Oscars. However, a few say that the Gujarati film was screened at a few film festivals and bagged a bunch of awards, it might achieve what Indians have been waiting for many decades.
The film is yet to hit the screens in India. The film is slated for a theatrical release on the 14th of October. “Chhello Show†(The Last Film Show) already has a few international awards in its kitty including the prestigious Golden Spike award at the 66th Valladolid Film Festival in Spain.
Well, the Gujarati film is also facing criticism as a few movie lovers say it is a remake film and the remake film won’t get Oscars.
Chhello Show tells us the story of a nine-year-old Samay from Gujarat’s Chalala. He gets bowled when he sees the world from the cinema hall projection booth and he falls in love with the films. What happens next in his life forms the main crux.
