Veera Simha Reddy and Waltair Veerayya had the same production house and were released with just a day’s gap. The ideal scenario should be that both films are given equal weightage and treatment by reviewers.
But that didn’t happen with Veera Simha Reddy and Waltair Veerayya. A section of media, obviously the yellow media cried foul on Waltair Veerayya while hyping up Veera Simha Reddy.
These biased media houses tried their best to salvage Veera Simha Reddy with their love towards Balakrishna by rating the film more than the actual quality of the product. They then tried to belittle Waltair Veerayya by giving low ratings.
TeluguBulltein has stood out in this aspect. We rated Veera Simha Reddy – 2.0 and Waltair Veerayya – 2.75. The box office performances of these films clearly validate our on-point rating.
A section of the media hyped up Veera Simha Reddy big time and that resulted in strong start for the film in the USA. But the film crashed right from second day. In case of Waltair Veerayya, there was a lot of negativity from this media section.
But this didn’t have a say in the box office performance of the film as it maintained an excellent hold and even set a non-RRR post-pandemic record on Sunday by collecting over $300K. It registered back to back $300K days at US box office.
In Telugu states, Waltair Veearyya opened with disaster talk, with the paid negativity campaign on the film. But the equation changed quickly by afternoon. And by evening and night shows, the public verdict came out and the Chiranjeevi film started to overwhelmingly dominate the Balakrishna starrer.
Thanks to Sankranthi festival, Veera Simha Reddy is getting good box office numbers beyond its range. Same might apply for Veerayya, but the entertainment angle is the advantage for the film. This section of media tried to undo the advantage with paid negativity but that didn’t work out.
Well, Chiru has done over 150 films in his career and he shouldn’t be new to facing this negativity. He has reigned over all the negativity to become a true megastar and the stellar run of Waltair Veerayya is another feather to his cap.
