Hyderabad, 20th February, 2023: ZEE5 has been relentlessly dishing out a wide variety of content in various formats in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali and other languages. ZEE5 has made a name for itself nationwide as a prominent streaming platform since its inception. After presenting the comedy-drama ‘Oka Chinna Family Story’ from Pink Elephant Pictures, ‘Loser 2’ from Annapurna Studios stable, ‘Gaalivaana’ from BBC Studios and NorthStar Entertainment, ‘Recce’, ‘Hello World’, ‘Maa Neella Tank’, ‘Aha Naa Pellanta’ and most recently ‘ATM’, it is now ready with a new Original.
Titled ‘Puli-Meka’, ZEE5’s upcoming offering is a thriller. The streaming giant has collaborated with Kona Film Corporation on this promising web series.
Days after the Original’s teaser was released digitally, its super-thrilling trailer was unveiled today. ‘Puli-Meka’ will start streaming on ZEE5 on February 24.
The trailer begins with a male voice saying matter-of-factly that death is inescapable. A zooming train mows down an unknown character in an instance of a heinous crime perpetuated by a mystery man. Aadi Saikumar, who plays a forensic analyst, is then heard saying that the same mystery killer who murdered a Sub-Inspector a month ago has eliminated another cop now. Suman, a top cop, is sure that a psychopathic killer is baying for the blood of police officers.
In comes a confident Kiran Prabha, an IPS officer played by Lavanya Tripathi. She looks combat-ready and mans a resourceful Special Investigation Team with the attitude of an angry fighter. She picks her team and whips up her investigative skills, looking for clues and hints at every step. As the investigation acquires heft, Kiran Prabha and her second-in-command officer figure out that the killer’s targets are random, and not just those from the police department.
Amid fast-paced visuals and action-filled frames, a frightened woman says that the Madam looks dangerous. We agree!
Custodial torture, shoot-outs, tense conversations, and edgy moments follow in quick succession. Multiple threads seem to deepen this thriller.
After a consistently serious trailer, at the fag end, an attempt is made to establish ‘Puli-Meka’ as an occasionally light-veined thriller. Aadi’s character uses relatable language when he says that he binged on thrillers and web series during the pandemic-induced lockdown.
Well-known cine writer and producer Kona Venkat is producing the series on a prestigious scale. K Chakravarthy Reddy, who has previously directed Gopichand-starrer ‘Pantham’, is wielding the megaphone.
