Sudhakar Cherukuri is a name that is being heard a lot in the Telugu film industry in the last couple of years. He floated a banner named ‘Sri Lakshmi Venkateswara Cinemas’ and produced some quality content till date. ‘SLV Cinemas’ made ‘Padi Padi Leche Manasu’ which raised expectations but ended up disappointing the audience. He then bankrolled ‘Aadavallu Meeku Joharlu’ which was a feel-good family entertainer but did not succeed at the box office.
‘Lion’ starring Balakrishna in the lead was also produced under this banner and it was a colossal failure. The producer took the risk and made a bold movie like ‘Virata Parvam’ which lacked the regular commercial elements. We all know, how it ended up. Above all, he bankrolled Ravi Teja’s disaster film ‘Ramarao On Duty’ and it ended up as a nightmare to everyone involved with the movie.
Despite lacking box office success, ‘SLV Cinemas’ banner went ahead and made a raw and rustic film like ‘Dasara’. They did not choose the safe option but instead spent heavily on a debut director. They trusted the script and made ‘Dasara’ with top-notch production values. It is the costliest film in Nani’s career till date. It looks like their trust in Nani and Srikanth Odela paid off because the rustic rural drama opened to positive reviews on the first day and there are packed houses everywhere.
People are loving Nani’s performance and Srikanth’s honest narration. ‘SLV Cinemas’ banner and Sudhakar Cherukuri deserve a lot of praise too for bankrolling such a film without any inhibitions. Experts claim that the banner has got its first blockbuster hit after five successive disasters. Let us hope they carry this success forward.
