AP created a record in the girl population. After Kerala, Andhra Pradesh has the highest girl population for every 1000 boys in the country. For the past few decades, the boys’ population has been significant in the state. However, the trend has been changing since 2021 and the girl population is increasing. The same was mentioned by the Ministry of Implementation of Central Statistics Programmes in its recent report.
The Centre said that earlier the ratio used to be 977 girls for every 1000 boys in Andhra Pradesh. Now the same has increased to 1046 for every 1000 boys, said the Ministry in the report.
Kerala has the highest girl ratio for every 1000 boys in the country with 1114 girls. Andhra Pradesh stood at the second spot after Kerala. Talking about Telangana, there are only 955 girls for 1000 boys. Karnataka and Tamil Nadu have 991 and 1026 girls respectively in the ratio.
The report said that there are 1063 girls for every 1000 boys in Urban areas and 1038 girls in rural areas in Andhra Pradesh.
The report said that the implementation of the Health programs in Andhra Pradesh is the reason for the growing population of girls. Earlier, girls used to develop health issues before turning six and they used to die in some cases. But the deaths have come down with the government supplying Nutritious food for pregnant women and offering Medical examinations and vaccinations through the Anganwadi centers.
Not just that, the government is also providing Health services in all the villages across the state under YSR Health Clinics. On the other hand, there are good results as the majority of deliveries are happening in hospitals. The report said that all these are the reasons for the growth in the girls’ population in Andhra Pradesh.
However, while Kerala and Andhra Pradesh are at the top in terms of girl population in the country, Haryana has the least girl population as there are 887 girls for every 1000 boys. Talking about the average girl-boy population ratio in the country, there are 968 girls for every 1000 boys.
