A lot of notable movies are arriving this Sankranti season and the discussion among the makers regarding the allotment of theatres is not reaching any conclusion. Film Nagar talk suggests that one or two makers were asked to either prepone or postpone their movies but it served no purpose. With ‘Guntur Karam’ releasing on 12th January, a few suggested ‘Hanu-Man’ makers to change their release date just by a day but it did not work out according to reports.
The idea of anyone releasing the movie on New Year and having a free run at the box office for more than 10 days also did not work out as per sources. Bigwigs like Dil Raju, Naga Vamsi, Suresh Babu and Viswa Prasad are trying to negotiate a discussion but they are reaching nowhere and no producer is keen on changing their release dates. Theatres are going to be a big issue as some regions don’t have enough theatres to hold five films at a time.
Distributors will face losses if a big film like Mahesh Babu’s ‘Guntur Karam’ is not screened in at least two halls in small centers. The overflow crowd can result in other films getting benefitted as well. Also, the five films are quite different from each other which is a major concern. All these issues need to be fixed in the next couple of days as the producers need to plan their promotional strategies accordingly.
Insiders claim that ‘Naa Saami Ranga’ will release on 14th January while ‘Guntur Karam’ and ‘Hanu-Man’ are coming on the 12th. Venky’s ‘Saindhav’ and ‘Eagle’ are going to be released on 13th January. On the other hand, there are dubbing movies like Dhanush’s ‘Captain Miller’ and Siva Karthikeyan’s ‘Ayalaan’. They want to release simultaneously in Tamil as well as Telugu. It looks like the producers and exhibitors need to be tough on dubbing films this time. We need to wait and see what happens in the coming few days.
